Our Mission

Learning to budget can seem overwhelming.  Studies show one of the most common fights among couples is about money.  Why is this?

Do you find yourself stressed out about your debt?  How to pay for college, a wedding, a house, the list goes on and on.

Wouldn't you like to feel confident in your ability to control your finances, to get ahead and to create wealth?

That is our mission, to help you do just that and more.

Start by reading some of our posts.  Then take action and do what you are learning.  It only takes 21 days to start a new habit.  So let's get going with changing your life!

Basics
I have taught a lot of people about finances and real estate investing.  The first step should always be to relax and be honest with yourself.  Be honest about what you do and don't know.  For most of us, we never learned a lot about finances, budgets and real estate.  That's ok, that's what I am here for, to help you get a firm grasp on this topics.  So, Welcome and let's get started.

Gradient Glass Jar

Imagine a glass jar.  You are going to fill it with rocks.  It is best to start with the large rocks first, then the medium size, then the small ones and finally the sand.

Changing your thought patterns about anything isn't easy, but it isn't hard either.

It is all in how you think about something.  So, changing anything is easier if you have a plan, what I call an action plan.

I have a background in Psychology, and I when I learned it only takes 21 days to create a new habit, I was astonished.  I was also excised because I could do anything for just 21 days.  And if that was all it took to created a new habit I was all in.

I tried it out on small things first.  It worked.  I then moved on to what I thought was more difficult habits.  Guess what? It worked.

It is very easy to go from dark cloud thinking to creative thinking.

The most important thing for you to learn right here and right now is creating change in your life is as simple as changing how you think, and it only takes 21 days.

To start: each morning and each evening before bed.
See yourself being financially successful.  See yourself with little or no debt.  See yourself controlling your finances to achieve what you want.  What does this look like to you.  Imagine it!
See yourself knowing the difference between what you want and what you need.
Just take a minute or even 30 seconds to just calmly breathe and imagine you are very good with money.

Mental imagery exercises the same muscles

Many elite athletes know that mental training works almost as well  as physical training.

They know the hard hours in the gym pay off, but the mental training they do pays off even more.  It creates a mind set of a winner.

"If you think you can, you Can! "  (quote usually attributed to Henry Ford)

So, that few minutes in the morning and evening are a small price to pay for such gains.

But let's get more specific with that imagery now.

This isn't the "is the jar half full or half empty question"

This is about what you put in the jar and what order you put things into the jar.

The jar represents your finances, your budget.

You have large rocks-big debt,Medium rocks- midsize debt,Small rocks-

and sand type bills.

But you only have one jar to fit this all into.

And what do you do with all the stuff that doesn't fit into the current jar?  No we don't get another jar, at least not yet.

You have all heard this before, you start with the large rocks first, then move to the medium, and small.

So, let's take this example to the next level.

What are your big rocks, the big bills you have?  Mortgage, rent, for some people a car loan will fall into this category.  You put things where you think they go.

The sand is all the money you spend on "stuff".  Eating out, coffee shops, shopping just for fun.

Take the time to list everything you spend money on.  Everything.  This might take you a day, or a week to do.  Some people really don't even know the extent of what they do with their money.

I didn't realize I brought a coffee every day at a expensive coffee shop every week day.  Not the cheap cup of coffee, but the mixed drink kind.  When I thought about it I realized I not only didn't really like coffee, which was why it was the mixed drink stuff, but that I can of diet coke provided the same moment to unwind a bit in the middle of the day.  So, I started to keep a 6 pack of soda in the refrig. at work.  I did have to put a note on them saying "you drink one, you replace it today!"

Small starts make a big difference to your mind set!
